Double honour for Dundee Professor

Professor Malcolm Horner, Emeritus Professor of Engineering Management at the University of Dundee has been honoured by the Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE) and the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) for his outstanding contribution to engineering.

As Chair of the ICE Board, Prof. Horner will represent the professional interests of 8000 civil engineers throughout Scotland, making him the most senior Member of ICE Scotland.

Professor Horner leads the Construction Management Research Unit (CMRU) at the University of Dundee and is Emeritus Professor of Engineering Management and a Research Fellow. He is a current member of the Engineering and Physical Science Research Council's Peer Review College and, until recently, was the longest serving member of the British Council's Advisory Committee on Science, Engineering and the Environment.

He also holds the Chairmanships of Whole Life Consultants Ltd, a University spin out company set up to commercialise his research, and of Scottish Enterprise Tayside.

Prof. Horner has been awarded Fellowship of the RSE and appointed as the inaugural Chair of the Scottish Regional Management Board of the Institution of Civil Engineers.

His Fellowship of the RSE sees him join leading figures in the arts, business and academia, recognised for their significant achievements in their field and contribution to public service.

Sir Michael Atiyah, President of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, described the Fellows as "outstanding" and "amongst the best minds in Scotland".
