Evening Concert Series - Madeleine Mitchell
Classical music fans in Tayside will be treated to a performance by one of the UK’s most celebrated violinists this week when Madeline Mitchell plays the latest in the University of Dundee’s series of evening concerts.
Previously a finalist in both the European Women of Achievement and the Creative Briton Awards, Madeline has performed all over the world and broadcasts frequently for both television and radio.
For her concert at the University Chaplaincy Centre in Dundee on Thursday (March 1st) she will perform pieces by Beethoven, Strauss, James McMillan and Frank Bridge. While at the University she will also be giving a masterclass to students.
"This is a real coup for us to have Madeline performing at the University," said the University’s music director Graeme Stevenson. "She has given tremendous concerts all over the world and is a regular at many of the major festivals, so this is a real treat for classical music fans in and around Dundee."
The concert takes place at 7.30 pm on Thursday in the Chaplaincy Centre, Cross Row, University of Dundee. This concert is kindly sponsored by Vintage Strings, 77 Perth Road, Dundee.
Madeline will return to Dundee later in the year to play Elgar's Violin Concert with the Dundee Sypmhony Orchestra in November under the baton of one of her former pupils, Robert Dick.
Tickets are available from the Box Office in City Square or at the door, and are priced £8.
