Student experience at Dundee gathers plaudits
Student life at the University of Dundee has been rated among the best in the UK, according to a major survey of students.
The Student Experience rankings published by the Times Higher Education Supplement place the University in the top ten in the UK and top three in Scotland.
This is the third consecutive measure of quality of student experience in which the University has been highly rated, following the National Student Survey and the International Student Barometer.
The Times Higher table has Dundee at 8th in the UK, and third in Scotland for the quality of student life, measured across a range of factors.
"We have to take all league tables with a slight pinch of salt, but this is the third table in a row in the space of the past few months which has placed Dundee very highly for the quality of the student experience we offer here," said Dr David Duncan, Secretary of the University.
"The very high quality of the teaching we offer, the excellent new facilities we have provided across campus, and the wider environment of the city all help to contribute to our 8th place in the UK rankings. The improving nature of the city and the vibrant, welcoming environment it provides, coupled with excellent bars, clubs and live music, are very important."
The survey found that students valued a rounded experience at university, with factors such as "good environment on campus" and "good social life" being highly rated alongside "high quality staff/lectures" and "well-structured courses".
