The International Nursing Research Conference
Tuesday May 1 - Friday May 4 2007
Caird Hall, Dundee
Nurses from across the globe will be presenting cutting edge research on a range of key health issues at the Royal College of Nursing’s 2007 International Nursing Research Conference, taking place in Dundee from May 1 - 4th.
Among the research papers being presented are:
- Verbal abuse of student nurses on placement
- The impact of the nursing workforce on patient outcomes in intensive care
- Fathers of children with life-limiting conditions
- Suicide in young men
The conference brings together nurses, health professionals and academics from diverse clinical and academic settings from around the world and aims to encourage sharing and collaboration between healthcare researchers. The four-day event includes keynote papers, workshops, master classes, concurrent sessions, poster presentations and fringe meetings which, together with a lively social programme, will stimulate debate on a range of major nursing and research issues.
The School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Dundee has been heavily involved in organising the conference and a number of academics from the School will present papers and presentations at the conference. The topics range from the different beliefs about stroke that nurses and patients may have to the challenges of researching male partners of women with breast cancer.
Senior lecturer in Nursing and Associate Director of the Social Dimensions of Health Institute at the University of Dundee, Dr Martyn Jones, will present a keynote lecture on the opening day of the conference. His work is focussed on work stress, staff well-being, and patient safety and the importance of managerial support, organisational change and targeted intervention in promoting well-being in the workplace.
