Homecoming art gallery opens
View art... Win art... Buy Art...
Artwork from 50 prominent graduates of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design is being displayed online in a `virtual art gallery’ as part of the celebrations to mark the 40th anniversary of the University of Dundee.
The work of artists including Derek Robertson, Eunice Harvey, Francis Boag, Angus McEwan and Jackie Cartwright can be viewed and bought through the website at www.dundee.ac.uk/homecoming2007/art
For a few lucky people there will be the chance to grab a major bargain through a competition to win hundreds of pounds to spend on works being displayed as part of the show. Tickets for the competition are available now from the Tower Reception at the University, Alumni Relations on Floor 6 of the Tower Building, or Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design.
The draw will be made on May 1st, and winners will have first choice from the works in the gallery. The virtual gallery will be on show until after a special `Homecoming’ weekend which has been organised for alumni of the University from June 15th to 17th, after which the work will go on general sale.
Monies raised through the competition will go towards the University’s Annual Fund and a new Student’s Project Fund for Duncan of Jordanstone College.
"It is fantastic that our own alumni continue to be so supportive towards the University and the range of work the artists have supplied to the virtual gallery is amazing," said Dianne Pemberton-Piggott, Director of Alumni Relations at the University.
"This is a great opportunity to buy some work from a selection of Scotland’s brightest artists, all produced through Duncan of Jordanstone College."
Further information on the virtual gallery and the competition is available from Alumni Relations at the University - tel 01382 384822, e-mail homecoming2007@dundee.ac.uk
The homecoming weekend in June is set to welcome back Dundee alumni from around the globe for a full weekend of events both on campus and around Tayside. Further details are available at www.dundee.ac.uk/homecoming2007
