Dundee couple generously give to Breast Cancer research

A Dundee couple have celebrated their Golden wedding anniversary by handing over a cheque to Breast Cancer research.

Cathy and Joe Dolan, both 75, from Craigiebank, had a 50th wedding anniversary party in February, but instead of gifts, they asked their guest to donate to charity.

Joe says, "When you’ve been together for 50 years, you don’t need anything - you’ve got enough crystal glasses to last a lifetime!"

The couple, who married in St Andrews Cathedral, Dundee in 1957, will hand over a cheque for £1,130 to Professor Alastair Thompson, University of Dundee today.

The money will go towards researching cures for breast cancer. "It’s a cause that is close to our hearts," says Joe.

Professor Thompson said that "it is most welcome to receive this very generous donation to breast cancer research in Dundee which reflects our increasing success in fighting breast cancer".
