Children from Broughty Ferry After-School Care Association will this week do their bit to keep their local beach tidy, as part of Keep Scotland Beautiful's Spring Clean initiative.
The Tay Estuary Forum, based at the University of Dundee, has enlisted the help of the kids for a beach clean on Thursday 12th April. Parents will also be along to don their wellies - or sandals if the weather holds! - and join in the cleaning operation.
The event is one of many taking place through a nation-wide scheme supported by Local Coastal Partnerships in helping to actively address the problem of beach litter on Scotland's coast.
"Beach litter affects all areas of our shorelines and with ever-increasing numbers visiting the coast, this is a fantastic opportunity to encourage children, as well as the wider community to play an active role in improving the condition of their beaches," said Laura Booth, project officer for the Tay Estuary Forum.
Throughout the month of April, several beach cleans will take place across the Angus and Fife coast. To find out how you can get involved in a beach clean near you, please contact the Tay Estuary Forum's Project Officer, Laura Booth on 01382 384933 or email TayEstuaryForum@dundee.ac.uk
Broughty Ferry Girl Guides will carry out another beach clean as part of the project on the evening of Monday April 30th.
