Students looking for volunteers
Students from the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences Innovative Product Design course are looking for a volunteers to take part in a study into how we use products.
The participants will be given packs that include an alarm clock, voice "dream" recorder, disposable camera and a variety of methods to document the experience. The packs are known as Cultural Probes and will be used to look at familiar interactions with simple objects. Volunteers will need to give up 20 minutes of their time to register and document how they have used the packs.
The students, who are in their 4th year of the course, will then gather the information and hope to use it to develop products which will make our everyday life easier.
Robert Djaelani, who is co-running the study says, "We hope to discover the emotions present while interacting with simple products. Our first aim is to create research which is playful and challenging, our secondary aim is to use technology out of context to create a new experience with the product."
The study starts on the 18th October. If you want to volunteer (all members of the public welcome), call 07743 053113 or visit www.ilikedesign.co.uk
