Purchasing performance nets professional praise

A successful plan to restructure purchasing systems within the University of Dundee has led to a nomination for a major award.

The effort by the Central Purchasing Office at the University has seen it shortlisted for "Best Purchasing Initative by a Smaller Organisation" in the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Management Awards 2006.

"Our aim was to to restructure the Central Purchasing Office in order to meet the new challenges facing the University, and create a more efficient and effective service," said Sylvia Beswick, Purchasing Manager at the University.

"It is testament to all the hard work put in by staff in the CPO that we have now been shortlisted for a major award by CIPS, our professional body."

The CIPS Supply Management Awards are designed to celebrate and reward excellence in the field of purchasing and supply management, and will be marked with a ceremony at the London Hilton on Park Lane on October 26th.

The Purchasing Office has already been celebrating another success - Purchasing Officer Louise Aird was selected by the Adam Smith College to receive their Diosynth Award in Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply last month.

The award is in recognition of her commitment and hard work shown in her studying for the Graduate Diploma in CIPS during her time at the College.
