From Queen Mother Building to Queen's House
Dr Iain Murray, lecturer in the School of Computing at the University of Dundee, will be among a group of scientists honoured at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday October 24th.
Dr Murray, who is based in the Queen Mother Building at the University, is to attend a reception hosted by the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh to recognise the contribution to society of members of the scientific community.
"I normally spend my days here at the University in our new Queen Mother Building but it is an honour to be invited to attend a reception at another building with royal connections," said Dr Murray.
Dr Murray, whose main areas of research include speech synthesis, is also Chairman of the Tayside & Fife Branch of the British Association for the Advancement of Science.
The reception follows an event when over 800 schoolchildren will visit the Palace to meet scientists and see a variety of scientific displays. The displays are being mounted by organisations including the Royal Society, the Science Museum, the Natural History Museum and the Research Councils.
