University of Dundee and DUSA Launch new Class Representation DVD

Dundee University Students Association, in a joint venture with the University of Dundee, are pleased to announce the launch of their first ever class representatives information and instructional DVD.

The DVD sets out to provide comprehensive information to student representatives from all faculties on effective representation, communication and management of staff-student liasoning and relationships. It also acts to give greater resources and information for those interested in taking posts as student representatives, and it is hoped that it will encourage more to take part in the representative process.

In the past, information on effective representation had always been given in document form, leaving students with a wealth of literature to trawl through to fully understand their role. With the new DVD the representatives will be able to learn their role and responsibilities quickly and effectively, with an easily accessible point of reference to revert back to when needed.

Dundee University Students Association Student President Steven Blane comments:

"The main objective of this project is to further enhance the efficiency of student representation available at the University of Dundee."

"Being one of the first of its kind, This DVD will be an invaluable resource for all student representatives at the University of Dundee. The advances in technology that now allows us to put so much information onto one disc, means that student reps won’t have to worry about carrying mountains of information about, when it is all provided in one easy to use DVD."

The official launch for the DVD will be held on Friday 20th October in Mono in the Students Union Building. In attendance will be Dr Eric Monaghan from the Department for Academic Affairs at the University, members of the DUSA Executive Committee, and the newly elected class representatives.

Class representatives are responsible for representing the academic needs of students at Dundee University and act as a direct voice between the student body and the academic staff at the university.
