The Margaret Harris Lecture on Religion - Imam Dr Abduljalil Sajid
The University of Dundee's annual Margaret Harris Lecture on religion will be given on Tuesday November 28th by Imam Dr Abduljalil Sajid, on the subject of 'An Islamic Perspective on Interfaith Dialogue'.
Imam Dr Sajid was born in Rajanpur in India in 1947 and moved to the United Kingdom to study. He is an advisor to Tony Blair and is known among faith communities in Brighton, where he is Imam of Brighton Islamic Mission, as the ‘Bridge Building Imam'.
At present, Imam Dr Sajid is a member of the Central Working Committee of the Muslim Council of the Muslim Council of Britain and Vice-Chair of the UK Chapter of the World Conference of Religions for Peace, among other positions.
Margaret Harris was a benefactor of the university in the late 19th Century and the lecture given in her name has been an annual event since 1965. Past lecturers have included many eminent names from the field of religion and philosophy including Sir Kenneth Dover, Terry Waite, Rabbi Julia Neuberger and Sir Jonathon Porritt.
The Margaret Harris Lecture takes place on Tuesday November 28th at 5.15pm in the Chaplaincy Centre, Cross Row, Dundee.
Members of the public are cordially invited to attend the lecture. Admission to the lecture is free. No tickets are required.
