Dundee Degree Show 2006

Jewellery inspired by the Scottish Parliament, an innovative trampolining sock, a Christian animation with a contemporary twist and a storage facility full of ideas are just some of the exhibits on display at this year’s degree show at the University of Dundee’s Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design.

More than 200 students of fine art, design, television and imaging and architecture will put their final year projects on show at the annual degree show at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design which officially opens on Friday May 19.

This year’s show will also, for the first time, feature work from the ground-breaking new programme in Interactive Media Design as the first students on the course prepare to graduate.

Design student Jill Slater will be exhibiting her range of jewellery inspired by the structural detail of the Scottish Parliament and its use of different materials while Mike Wood’s sock to protect top-class trampolinists from injury will also be on show.

Animation student James Law will be confronting popular misconceptions about Christianity with his modern take on the story of David and Goliath whilst Ewan Manson will be sharing the ideas and materials which have shaped his student years in his storage facility exhibit.

Dean of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design Professor Georgina Follett described this year’s show as one of the "cultural highlights of the Dundee arts calendar."

"The annual degree show at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design showcases the amazing level of talent and creativity of our graduates from the Schools of Design, Fine Art, Television and Architecture," she said.

"This year for the first time the first graduating students from the Interactive Media Design course will also be exhibiting their work as part of the degree show."

"It really promises to be an exceptional show with a fascinating range of exhibitions by more than 200 artists, designers and architects. Well worth a visit, it is sure to entertain, provoke and captivate."
