Dundee Voted Among World's Best Workplaces

The University of Dundee has been named one of the world's best workplaces for postdoctoral scientists, in a new survey carried out by The Scientist magazine.

Dundee is included as one of the top 10 international institutions outside of North America. Dundee is one of only three UK institutions named in the survey, alongside the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology at Cambridge and the University of Manchester.

The magazine's survey - "Best Places To Work For PostDocs" - determines how postdoctoral scientists rate the quality of their experience in their place of employment.

Commenting on the poll result, Dr Paul Andrews, co-chair of the School of Life Sciences' Postdoc Association at Dundee, said, "It is very encouraging to hear that Dundee's reputation as a great place to work, as a postdoc, has received recognition in this influential poll. Since its inception last year, the School of Life Sciences' Postdoc Association has been extremely active in addressing the acknowledged UK-wide deficits in many aspects of postdoctoral training and career development. Being placed in the Top 10 this year will encourage us to do even more for postdocs in the future".

More information about the activities of the Postdoc Association can be found at: http://dundee.ac.uk/lifesciences/postdoc

The University of Dundee has been named top in Europe in each of the past two years in The Scientist's wider "Best Places to Work in Academia" poll.
