Human trafficking expert at the University of Dundee
Dr Tomoya Obokata, a lecturer in the Faculty of Law at the University of Dundee, is available for expert comment on the subject of human trafficking.
Dr Obokata is a specialist adviser on human trafficking to the Joint Committee on Human Rights at Westminster and a researcher for the International Human Rights Network. He also recently served as an expert for a joint European Union/Council of Europe project on human trafficking and illegal immigration.
He has published extensively in the area of human trafficking and his latest book Trafficking of Human Beings from a Human Rights Perspective: Towards a Holistic Approach is due to be published later this summer.
Dr Obokata also consults for Iselin Consulting, which specialises in criminal intelligence, human rights protection and international law enforcement co-operation.
He holds a first degree in international relations, an MA in Theory and Practice of Human Rights, an LLM in International Criminal Law and a PhD in Law. He has also worked for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Regional Office of Japan and the Republic of Korea.
