The University of Dundee Access Summer School has celebrated its fourteenth year in operation with the 1000th student passing through its doors.
The ten-week course, designed to provide a first chance to those unable to qualify for university entry due to adversity, has since 1993 given 1,039 students the chance to qualify and prepare for a degree - over 800 going on to be University of Dundee students.
This year 82 students have completed the summer school, the vast majority of whom are being offered a place on degree courses at the University of Dundee. University Rector Lorraine Kelly will join this year's successful students and their families for an end-of-school celebration at Dundee University Students Association on Friday evening.
Dr John Blicharski, course director and head of the University's Wider Access Study Centre, expressed his delight at reaching the milestone of 1000 students.
"The University is very proud of the talented students that we are able to support through this course," said Dr Blicharski.
"Many have gone on to great things all across the world and keep in touch. We hope their achievement will inspire another thousand to think about learning with us."
