Designs for Life presents new summer show
Visitors to the University this summer will have the chance to view artwork created as part of the fascinating Designs For Life Project.
A total of 12 pieces of art from the project, a major collaboration between scientists at the College of Life Sciences and artist Paul Liam Harrison, will be on display at the Queen Mother Building from 17 June.
It is the second time work from the project, which is funded by the Wellcome Trust, has gone on display. An exhibition at the Visual Research Centre at DCA in February introduced the artworks which are all based on the individual research projects of each scientist.
The stunning images included pieces created from images of cancer cells, embryonic stem cells, electron micrographs of human skin and time lapse movies of nuclear protein.
This summer's exhibition in the QMB will include recent additions to the project which includes work by scientists Dr Alan Prescott, Professor Angus Lamond, Ian Newton, Professor Inke Nathke, Dr Judith Sleeman, Dr laura Trinkle-Mulcahy, Dr Paul Andrews, Dr Mhairi Towler, Professor Kate Stoery, Dr David Martin and Dr Arwen Wilcock.
"This will be the first time some of the images have been displayed, " said Paul Harrison, a PhD researcher and artist at the VRC.
