Holyrood launch of DUP law division
The law division comes under the direction of Dr Carole Dalgleish, a law graduate of both
Aberdeen and Cambridge Universities. Carole has 20 years' experience of the Scottish legal market
and ten years’ experience in Scottish law publishing. She will be known to many authors through her
previous commissioning roles with W Green, T & T Clark and LexisNexis UK.
Dr Dalgleish said, "Our objective is to become the publisher of choice for the academic and
professional lawyer and we now invite proposals for new books.
"Authors can be sure that through DUP they will receive a first class service. Our editors are
qualified in Scots law, production will be to the highest standards, royalties will be paid on time
and authors will be encouraged to be involved at every stage of the process."
Chair of DUP's board of directors Dr David Duncan said, "This is excellent news for all of
Scotland's legal community - professionals, academics, staff and students. We are delighted to have
someone with Carole's wide experience and reputation to take this new DUP venture forward and
energise Scots law publishing."
Deputy Presiding Officer Murray Tosh welcomed the formation of DUP and referred to Scotland's
excellent tradition of education and of publishing. Local MSP Marlyn Glen, who hosted the Holyrood
event for DUP, spoke of the dynamic contribution of the University of Dundee.
MSPs, senior academics, lawyers and architects were among those who gathered at the Scottish
Parliament at Holyrood last month to launch Dundee University Press (DUP)'s division of law
publishing and to celebrate DUP’s first title, The Architecture of Scottish Government.
