'Urban rambler' events for staff
To enable staff to take advantage of the many health benefits that regular walking can bring,
the Institute of Sport and Exercise will be launching an 'Urban Ramblers' programme at the end of
April.
Working in collaboration with Dundee City Council and with support from the Paths for All
Partnership - a national charity promoting local path networks and walking for health - the Urban
Ramblers programme will provide staff and students with the opportunity to join lunchtime and
evening walks, ranging from 15 to 45 minutes in length. The walks, which will be led by trained
walk leaders, will allow participants to escape the campus environment for a short period at the
middle and end of the day.
Paul McPate of the ISE explains, "The walks will offer staff a chance to enjoy some of the pleasant
areas that border the city centre campus, including the River Tay; Balgay and Dudhope Parks and
Magdalen Green. A positive response from staff could lead to a happier, healthier and more positive
working environment on campus."
Details of walk times will be circulated to all staff. For further information contact Paul McPate
