Creative Scotland award for Dalziel+Scullion
Matthew Dalziel and Louise Scullion of DJCAD (above) have received a Creative Scotland award for
£30,000. The Creative Scotland Awards are awarded by the Scottish Arts Council and support the
country's leading artists in the realisation of major creative projects.
The project will involve the creation of artworks for urban spaces that physically change the
quality of the air we breathe. Dalziel and Scullion will use a material new to the market, it
contains a catalytic material called Titanium Dioxide that neutralises nitric oxide in the air and
can be used in building materials, therefore dramatically reducing pollution in built up areas and
noticeably enhancing the quality of air that people breathe.
Dalziel & Scullion aim to spend some time researching forms that the material could be used to
create and which would become integral to a building or a public space.
