History PhD success
This year the Department of History has seen four of its graduates successfully complete PhDs, and a
further two students are due to complete before the end of the year. All of the students plan to publish
some or all of their findings in the future.
Commenting on their achievements, Professor Chris Whatley said, "That four History PhDs have been awarded
this summer, with more to follow in the autumn, is tremendous. What is better, the students concerned
have engaged with big topics in history and, almost certainly, will publish some or all of their
findings, either in book form or scholarly articles. The Department are also to be congratulated on
winning a Carnegie Postgraduate Award this summer, which adds to their recent success in winning AHRB
studentships. These are all hallmarks of a strong research department."
