Re-activate
Finding the motivation to begin a New Year fitness plan after all the excesses of the festive season can
be a challenging business. So what better way to kick-start your resolutions than with an evening of
exercise, where the emphasis is on fun.
That was the thinking of Paul McPate, Assistant Director of the Institute of Sport and Exercise, who
organised the recent re-activate sports evening. Nearly 40 members of staff abandoned their couches in favour
of an evening of basketball, badminton, volleyball, table tennis and rounders.
Paul said, "It was wonderful to see University staff participating in sport just for the fun of it. For us,
it proves that sport and exercise has something to offer all ages and abilities and we’d like more staff to
benefit from the sense of well being that exercise brings. We’ll certainly be organising more evenings like
this in the future and we’d encourage everyone to come along."
