40 years of town and regional planning at Dundee
The School of Town and Regional Planning has celebrated its 40th anniversary with a gathering of staff
and alumni who have been involved with the school throughout the years.
This milestone anniversary also marked the 150th anniversary of the birth date of Patrick Geddes, the
forefather of British land use planning practice who has a long association with the University.
Coincidentally, it was also the date of this year's World Planning Day, which draws attention to the
importance of town and regional planning in a changing global context.
Professor Greg Lloyd, Head of School, said, "The wide range of alumni attending the celebration event
demonstrated the enduring importance of planning to modern society. The experience, expertise and
enthusiasm evident on the occasion affirmed planning's importance on today's political agenda."
