Success for inaugural telephone campaign
The first alumni telephone campaign has exceeded all expectations, proving that the University is held
in very high esteem by generations of graduates.
The telephone campaign, the first initiative for the University's new Annual Fund, saw current students
calling University alumni to tell them about the latest developments at the University and inviting them
to pledge a donation to the annual fund. Some 1700 alumni were called over a period of four weeks and
the response was overwhelmingly positive, both in terms of pledged donations, and in the positive
responses from alumni who were delighted to talk to current students from their alma mater.
The pledged money will be donated to the Annual Fund and used for the enhancement of student and campus
facilities and to support students in genuine financial hardship.
Commenting on the success of the campaign, Head of Alumni Relations Dianne Pemberton-Pigott said:
"It has been a pleasure to work with this group of student-callers. Through their conversations with
alumni they have experienced the warmth and fondness which former students hold for their University.
The generosity in gifts and pledges has been wonderful and many current and future students will benefit
as a result.
Thank you again to those who donated and to all staff who worked with me to make this a fun campaign and
such a success for the University".
