Representing UK design
The international reputation of Roger Morris, Course Director in the department of Jewellery and Metal
Design at DJCAD, is currently on the rise. His work recently represented the UK at a show in Italy and
has just been purchased by a major museum in the USA.
Forme del Gioello, (shapes of jewellery), which took place in Vicenza, brought together designers and
manufacturers to foster innovation and research in jewellery. As the British representative, Roger was
one of a number of artists displaying the range of research and innovation currently being developed by
jewellery and metal designers across Europe.
Roger commented, "'Shapes of Jewellery' was an extraordinary event. With regards to research it was
extremely successful with lively debate in the conference hall.
There was also a unique opportunity to view and discuss in detail the wide variety of research
methodology related specifically to jewellery design and technology on an international platform."
Further afield, the renowned Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, has purchased three of Roger's pieces for
their permanent collection. The jewellery will be used in a major exhibition in 2007 that will tour the
USA and other international venues.
