Conservation visit
The Conservation Studio, based at the University library, recently welcomed a group of visiting
conservation interns to take part in a knowledge exchange.
Every year, Historic Scotland places recent graduates of recognised conservation courses with established
conservators in both the public and private sectors.
Ylva Player-Dhannsjo explains, "The objective of the scheme is to increase the fund of conservation skills in
Scotland, so the Internships cover a range of disciplines and vary from year to year. By targeting
Internships to those disciplines which are poorly-represented in Scotland the fund and range of conservation
skills and knowledge is extended and standards are improved."
The visiting interns were Karen Dundas, Diana de Bellaigue, Robert Leach and Roisin Morris. Erica Kotze, who
specialises in book and paper conservation, is the current intern based at the University’s conservation
studio.
