Professor Mike Rennie left the University this month to move to the new School of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Nottingham.
A farewell wine and speeches reception was held in the Wellcome Trust Biocentre where his colleagues paid tribute to his 20 year contribution to anatomy and physiology at the University and his exceptional commitment to teaching.
Dean of Life Science Peter Downes said: "Mike is passionate in his belief that teaching and research go hand in hand. As well as his skill and commitment to teaching he brought in £6 million of funding in his time here. We are grateful to him for his excellent Sports Biomedicine project which has proved a very popular undergraduate course."
