The hard work of several Law & Accountancy students has been recognised in a reception hosted by University Rector Fred MacAulay, Deputy Principal Professor Geoff Ward and the Faculty Dean, Dr Alex Russell.
Prizes and medals were awarded in a ceremony that is held each year to recognise excellence in the Faculty of Law & Accountancy.
Mark McLaughlin received the Faculty of Law & Accountancy Dean’s Medal from Fred MacAulay for his outstanding efforts. Mark is now taking the Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice at the University. In June 2004 he will take up a post as trainee solicitor with Thorntons in Dundee.
Catherine McLauchlan was also awarded the Dean’s Medal in recognition of her exceptional effort in completing an honours degree in Accountancy despite suffering on-going joint problems. Catherine underwent a hip replacement operation in between her third and fourth years of study. She is now studying for a MSc in Applied Computing as well as travelling to Edinburgh once a week to gain her ACCA.
The Dean’s Medal is awarded only occasionally to students whom in the Dean’s opinion have made outstanding and exemplary efforts in their studies.
