When University of Dundee student Graeme Coleman began experimenting with web design as part of his MSc in Applied Computing, he did not expect the results to make him a celebrity in Denmark...
Prompted by his success in managing a virtual version of the Danish team Nykobing Falster Alliancen in the PC Game "Championship Manager 4", he developed a web site devoted to the real team. After posting a link to his web site on the team’s official site, Graeme received emails from excited fans, who could not believe their second division team had attracted a Scottish fan!
As word spread, the web site received a mention in the team’s local newspaper, which was followed by an article on Denmark’s biggest sports web site and then in Denmark’s biggest sports newspaper. Graeme even received a phone call from a journalist on a Danish tabloid newspaper, who wanted to run a feature about his site.
The Danish team will be looking for a new PR Manager in November, however, when Graeme starts his PhD within the University’s Department of Applied Computing.
