Consulate General visits University of Dundee

The Consulate General of the United States of America has received a cheque from University students on behalf of a children's charity that supports victims of September 11.

Ms Cecile Shea, Principal Officer and Consulate General of the US in Scotland, visited the University's Institute for Transatlantic, European and American Studies (ITEAS) and met with students and staff. She was accompanied by a public diplomacy expert from Washington DC.

Dr Parker, Associate Director of ITEAS, said, "The Institute is looking to work closely with government, public and private agencies. We are making a key contribution to the discussion of public policy issues and international relations, and this visit continues that dialogue."

Students, who are members of the University of Dundee American Studies Society, raised the £250 for the September 11 Children's Fund by holding a fund-raising night in a local nightclub and organising a raffle.

The charity works to promote the health and well-being of children and families effected by September 11.
