New DUSA president

Chris Bustin has been elected president of University Students’ Association for the academic year 2003-4. Chris is no stranger to DUSA - he has served the Association for three years as deputy president, first elected in March 2000.

Originally from Oxfordshire, Chris has been studying Law and Languages at Dundee since 1999, during which time he has represented the University on many occasions, firstly as the winner of the Debating Triple Crown in 2000.

In March 2001, Chris presented DUSA’s Sensible Drinking Initiative to the Club Health Conference in Italy, to delegates from 30 countries – gaining wide support from members of parliament in the process.

More recently, Chris has represented the University, the Debating Union and the Law faculty at events as far away as Toronto, Cape Town, Croatia and Greece. Chris’ main interests lie in working for charity - he has raised over £7000 for good causes during his time as deputy president.

During his presidential year Chris plans to install an IT suite in the Students’ Association, and aims to establish a bursary fund for students with children. He also intends to increase funding available to student societies, and promises to continue with the planned redevelopment of the DUSA building, which is due to start in August 2003.
