£10.5 million has been awarded to the University of Dundee from the Scientific Research Investment Fund to improve the quality of our research facilities.
The University was awarded the third largest slice of the funding in Scotland behind Edinburgh and Glasgow in round two of the funding process.
The money will be used for projects decided by university court at the end of May. It is expected that a portion of the cash will go towards the new centre for interdisciplinary research in the faculty of life sciences and a state of the art building in applied computing.
Round one SRIF funding award totalling £8.7 million is currently being spent on a range of projects to improve facilities in science, engineering and medicine on the Perth Road and Ninewells campuses.
An advantage of round two is that the university is obliged only to meet 10% of the award rather than 25% in round one. 5% of the £10.5 million can be allocated for infrastructure projects in arts and humanities.
