The university photographic collection is to be renamed the Turner-McKinlay collection.

This is in honour and recognition of the two university photographers who over the years were involved in the creation and accumulation of the collection. Stan Turner was head of photography from 1963 to 1990, and is currently an honorary archives fellow with special responsibility for the Michael Peto collection.

Andy McKinlay joined the university as a photographer in 1984 and became technical manager of media services in 1993. A popular and well-known member of staff, he sadly died in 2001. The photographic collection, currently administered by archives services, consists of about ten thousand images that show the development of the University of Dundee and its predecessor institutions.
