Fifty years ago the foundation stone of the Crawford Building was laid, allowing the School of Art to split away from the Dundee Technical College on Bell Street and take its rightful place as one of the leading art schools in the country. It was in their new home that the art college began building a collection of student artwork, which is now cared for by the University Museum Services.
To mark this anniversary, an exhibition of work by both students and staff from the past 50 years of the college will be on show in a public exhibition to be staged at Verdant Works, the industrial heritage museum in West Henderson's Wynd. David Mach, Dennis Buchan, Richard Hunter and Will Maclean are among the artists who will be represented in the exhibition, which runs from 6 December to 29 February.
