An Atmosphere of Culture
Showing at Perth Art Gallery from May 24 to June 21, this exhibition represents the first time that the University’s unique art collections will be the subject of a major exhibition in a public gallery out with the University. It gives a wider audience the opportunity to view some of the many art treasures acquired by the University as part of its aim to foster an atmosphere of culture throughout the campus.
At the core of the fine art collections, and of the exhibition, is a selection from three centuries of Scottish art. All the major movements are represented, from the Victorian landscape tradition through the Colourists and the Glasgow Boys, right up to the contemporary art of staff and students at Duncan of Jordanstone College.
The exhibition will feature a selection of over 30 works from the collections, and will be accompanied by a fascinating publication written by Curator of Museum Services Matthew Jarron. Matthew is curating the exhibition in collaboration with Robin Rodger, Principal Officer of Fine & Applied Art at Perth Museum & Art Gallery.

Jordan Baseman
Baseman first came to prominence as one of the Saatchi ‘Brit Art’ pack in 1995. In 1999, the artist changed from a purely sculptural practice to working in video. Baseman focuses on groups or individuals who could be perceived, in some way, to be on the margins of mainstream society. This exhibition runs until 23 May at Cooper Gallery, DJCAD. A specially commissioned essay by artist Sarah Tripp is also available.
Sonology of a Mute Spectacle

Sonology of a Mute Spectacle takes an array of found objects, musical instruments and exhibits from the archives of the University’s Museum Collections, selected with particular attention to their sonic properties. This exhibition incorporates the objects with related audio works created by Mark, a recent MSc graduate from DJCAD. Showing in the Tower Building’s Lamb Gallery.
