April sees the launch of the university’s suite of family friendly policies.
New provision for foster care leave, fertility treatment leave, adoption leave and children and dependants leave build on improved maternity and paternity support leave.
The family friendly working group has produced a range of policies designed to support staff to balance work and home life and deal with personal responsibilities, as well as some of life’s major events.
Building beyond the new legislative requirements of the employment act 2002, the policies reflect the university’s recognition of the need for flexibility in the relationship between employer and employee within a context that supports equal opportunities.
The policies take effect from 6 April. Every member of staff will receive a booklet detailing the policies and procedures. All enquiries should be directed to the appropriate faculty personnel officer.
