Fast track degrees for successful students

Successful students at Dundee College are on their way to a fast track University of Dundee degree following a formal agreement between the two institutions this month.

The articulation agreement - the first such formal arrangement entered into by the University with a college of further education - means students who complete HNDs or HNCs with credits in selected subjects will qualify to enter year three or year two, of matching degree programmes.

The first students could take advantage of the new agreement as soon as October 2002.

The articulation agreement was signed by the Principals of the two institutions - Sir Alan Langlands and Mr Iain Ovens Principal of Dundee College.

Sir Alan said: "Dundee College has built a sound and strong reputation for the quality of its courses and graduates. We are delighted to sign this first formal agreement with the college and look forward to welcoming the first students and helping them to further develop their potential."

Mr Iain Ovens was also delighted adding: "This agreement will provide an excellent new opportunity for many students who already see courses at Dundee College as an ideal preparation for higher education. As one of the largest and fastest growing further education colleges in Scotland, Dundee College continues actively to promote national partnerships which will enhance learning opportunities for people in the Dundee area."

The agreement allows for direct entry to second or third year of degree programmes for students with the relevant qualifications in subjects including applied computing, economics, European studies, history, psychology, politics and design.
