A team of researchers led by head of applied computing Professor Ian Ricketts was awarded a British Computer Society award medal for their ICU talk system which allows people in intensive care to communicate with relatives and friends.
Ian Ricketts said: "This award recognises the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to solving complex problems and particularly that computer technology can help improve the quality of life of people with communications needs."
