Artist, film maker and author Jenny Brownrigg has recently taken up her post as curator at DJCAD. A graduate of both Glasgow School of Art and DJCAD, Jenny has previously held posts at the Changing Rooms Gallery, Stirling and Grizedale Arts in Cumbria, as well as having undertaken several artist residencies including the Scottish Arts Council Pier Arts Centre Fellowship in Orkney. She is currently working on a Scottish Arts Council- funded film, "Ultra Runner". Her tenure in Dundee kicked off with DJCAD's first freshers festival, 'Your Future', a week of activities including an installation and gig by London art graduates band Skill 7 Stamina 12 and an exhibition of recent graduates from DJCAD.

Forthcoming events include the Masters Expo 2002 (29 Nov - 6 Dec) and 'An American Conversation' (17 Jan - 14 Feb 2003), where two up-and-coming Glasgow based artists Karla Black and Alex Frost will work in the Cooper Gallery over a ten day period to create a sculptural installation. Other future plans include the development of a residency in partnership with the University's museum services, where artist Sally Osborn will be working with the University's D'Arcy Wentworth Thompson zoology collection.

Speaking of her plans for her time in Dundee, Jenny said, "As curator of exhibitions, I'm keen to build on the reputation of the University's exhibitions programme for promoting the best of contemporary art, design and architecture and aim to develop an exciting programme of exhibitions, performance, events, seminars, debate, workshops and outreach projects that will support teaching activity." Jenny is also actively encouraging students to take part in exhibitions, live projects and curation.
