Mooting success For the second year running University of Dundee law students have won the Alexander Stone mooting trophy, Scotland's premier inter-university law mooting competition. They presented a case before Lord McEwan for a mock client who wanted to recover damages for breach of contract.
On the same day Neil Davidson Q.C. the Solicitor-General for Scotland visited the law department to encourage ethnic minority students to apply for training contracts with the Crown Office, as they are currently under-represented in the service. The Solicitor-General was accompanied by colleagues from the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal service as well as office bearers from Tayside Racial Equality Council. Students who attended were enthusiastic about the opportunities on offer. A further visit is planned for the next academic session, and will run as part of the department's wider careers programme.
The law department also held an internal moot sponsored by Butterworths law publishers. The moot was judged by Sheriff Kevin Veal in the department's moot court room. Jonathan Prosser and Sam Magee overcame Thomas Blewitt and Mikhail Chowdhury to take the title.
