This exhibition by Museum Services accompanies the international word and image conference Riddles of Form: Exploration and Discovery in Word and Image, being held at the University of Dundee 11-15 August 2014. It aims to explore the interplay between art and text in a variety of forms. Some artists incorporate words into their images, others are inspired by texts in other ways. Some artforms (notably comics) rely on the relationship created between the word and the image, while in others (such as calligraphy), the text itself is the art.
A related exhibition, Riddles & Answers is being shown in the Tower Foyer Gallery at the same time.
