This exhibition explores the fascinating work being carried out at CECHR, the Centre for Environmental Change and Human Resilience, which brings together researchers from a variety of disciplines working at the University of Dundee and the James Hutton Institute. CECHR aims to tackle some of the pressing issues facing today's world, especially around food, water, energy and health futures. The scale and complexity of these challenges requires collaborative research and interdisciplinary problem solving.
Since August 2010, award-winning artist Jean Duncan has been working alongside the team at CECHR exploring the creativity central to their work. The process has inspired Jean to create new paintings which are shown in the exhibition, but has also drawn out the artistic talents of staff and graduate students.
Working with Wenni Deng and Pete Iannetta at the James Hutton Institute in Invergowrie, Jean's sensitive and multi-layered approach to microscopic images of Capsella bursa-pastoris (Shepherd's Purse) links the plant in the forms used in research to the hostile environment of Agriculture and pesticides in which it continues to survive.
As well as Jean's work, the exhibition also includes photographs, prints, films and models by CECHR staff.

- Wednesday 14 March, 12.30pm: Dr Pete Iannetta, James Hutton Institute on how Shepherd's Purse survives in hostile environments
