Between Tides: Riddles of Tentsmuir

This exhibition features work by award-winning artist Derek Robertson in collaboration with scientists and creative practitioners inspired by Tentsmuir National Nature Reserve.

Derek was appointed Artist In Residence at Tentsmuir by Scottish Natural Heritage as part of "Year of Creative Scotland 2013". He began a series of innovative projects to explore and celebrate the reserve and its wildlife, bringing together scientists and creative practitioners who used the reserve as a resource for inspiration, research and teaching. These collaborations resulted in a range of projects and artwork from poetry to paintings, photography to storytelling and this exhibition will display some of the resulting work as well as the background to the collaborations that developed. The display also includes Derek's work from the residency project that included an artist's book, an interactive mural and the construction of a virtual art trail around the reserve - projects that had extensive coverage in the local and national press and on television.  Artworks from the residency project have gone on show throughout Scotland as well as venues in London, the USA and Moscow - where the work received an international award.

Some Lines on a Landscape

Artist Derek Robertson, geographer Professor Rob Duck and writer Dr Jim Stewart give an insight into their science/art project at Tentsmuir National Nature Reserve. This special event features a tour of the exhibition and a presentation of the changing, dynamic nature of the coastline, followed by a creative workshop where you will be invited to respond to the landscape and wildlife, depicted with your own lines of words and imagery.

Derek Robertson: Artist in Residence at Tentsmuir

As part of the lecture series organised by Dundee Naturalists' Society, Derek will talk about his work on this project, followed by a tour of the exhibition.
