‘I don’t think in any language. I think in images. I don’t believe that people think in languages’                   Vladimir Nabokov

When considering visualisations in the Life Sciences it is hard to look past Martin Kemp for insightful thinking on the subject. Kemp has argued a case for the reality of Structural intuitions consistently and forcefully for several years, culminating in the 2016 publication ‘Structural Intuitions’ a sustained argument for their reality. He thinks that these intuitions allow us to make some sense out of the sensory chaos of the world.

This exhibition is part of ongoing research into how such intuitions may be visualised through rigorous observing, recording and drawing.
