Sascha Pohflepp & Chris Woebken's The House in the Sky (2015), a 3-channel stereoscopic video installation, is part of A Working Model of the World at LifeSpace.

This series of stereoscopic videos recreate the mid-century modern Los Angeles home of RAND Corporation strategists Alfred and Roberta Wohlstetter. The site of one of the earliest think tanks, the building hosted conversations between leading thinkers about the precarious futures envisaged during the Cold War era of the 1950s. Modeled on photographs of the residence taken by Julius Shulman and Leonard Mccombe, these recreations become the virtual territory for discussions by contemporary futurists that investigate relationships between architecture and critical inquiry, technological acceleration, and our place within history. 

Conversation participants include Laura Ballantyne-Brodie (NYU), Lars Büsing (Google DeepMind), Claire Evans (YACHT), Jacob Gaboury (Stony Brook University/Max Planck Institute), Sam Hart (Avant.org/Sloan-Kettering), Janna Levin (Columbia University), Kate Marvel (NASA Goddard Institute), Nicola Masciandaro (Brooklyn College), Oliver Medvedik (Genspace), Gavin Schmidt (NASA Goddard Institute), Kevin Slavin (MIT Media Lab) and Roberta Wohlstetter read by Joan Wohlstetter-Hall as well as contributors Geoff Manaugh (BLDGBLOG) and Phillip Stearns.

Sascha Pohflepp & Chris Woebken use computer simulation modelling to create site-specific installations in virtual format. Their collaborative practice investigates how societies have viewed the future, and the effect of this vision. Their recent project The House in the Sky consisted of a series of anaglyph stereoscopic projections recreating an iconic mid-century Los Angeles home and the activities therein.
