Gordon Douglas

Following his participation in the Atopic Art Micro-residency with the Brown Lab in University of Dundee's School of Medicine at Ninewells Hospital, Gordon Douglas developed Fizz w/o Friction (2017). The art work lifts four diagrams from the contexts of Ninewells Hospital, eczema clinics and dermatology genetic research, and inserts them as stimuli in a fictional play of four acts stored on university voicemail boxes. Fizz w/o Friction was exhibited as part of the exhibition Beyond Skin in LifeSpace.

Gordon Douglas is a performer and curator currently based in Edinburgh, Scotland. He graduated from the Environmental Art department at Glasgow School of Art in 2013, where he also attended an exchange semester at CalArts, California. From 2013-15, he served on the Transmission committee, an artist run space in Glasgow, instigating a series of workshops aimed at interrogating the governing documents of the institution. Since then, he has organised group projects and events with a diverse array of practitioners. Previous projects include: Habits of the Coexistent, Platform, Easterhouse (2015-17); Introduction-to-Performance, Edinburgh College (2016-17); The Rookery, Albatross Artists’ Studios and Community Theatre, Glasgow (2015-16); and The Garden is Our Wall, Intermedia, Glasgow (2014-15).
