caraballo-farman’s project Object Breast Cancer is featured in A Working Model of the World at LifeSpace.

Object Breast Cancer began with an oncologist showing artist Leonor Caraballo the MRI scans of her tumour. The oncologist inadvertently described it as beautiful, and Caraballo agreed. With her husband and collaborator Abou Farman, Caraballo investigated medical imaging, 3D printing technologies and other techniques for casting physical models of the tumour in many materials. Simultaneously they were working with shamans who had their own vibration-based modalities of imaging. The project includes maquettes for public monuments, sculptures, installations and jewelry. Caraballo died in 2015 when her cancer eventually metastasised.

caraballo-farman is a collaboration between Abou Farman and Leonor Caraballo who work across new media, video, installation and photography. Their practice is focused on public ritual and collective acts exploring the relationships between individuals and groups, unit and structure. Their work has been exhibited around the world and is held in public collections including the Museum of Modern Art, New York, USA; Museo del Barrio, New York, USA; Ecole des Beaux Arts, Paris, France.
