Following her participation in the Atopic Art Micro-residency with the Brown Lab at University of Dundee's School of Medicine at Ninewells Hospital in 2017, Beverley Hood developed the art works We began as part of the body, Exhume and Atopic (all 2017). This series of projects realised in 3D objects, audio, and photography come together to form an experiential work, inspired by Beverley's time working in the Brown Lab and were exhibited as part of the exhibition Beyond Skin in LifeSpace.
Beverley Hood has been creating digital art works since the mid 1990s that interrogate the impact of the virtual on the body, relationships and human experience. She has worked collaboratively on numerous occasions, developing projects involving a range of practitioners, including medical researchers, writers, technologists, dancers and composers. Her media art projects and performances have been exhibited internationally. Recent presentations include The Edinburgh International Festival (2013), the International Symposium of Electronic Art – ISEADubai2014, the New Technological Art Award 2014 – Update_5, at the Zebrastraat Museum, Ghent, Belgium (2014) and the Edinburgh Art Festival (2016).
