Centrespace DJCAD presents Yellowcake: atomic modern a screening programme of new work by artist and lecturer Gair Dunlop. Dunlop is Course Director in Time Based Art & Digital Film and Design at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, University of Dundee.
Yellowcake: atomic modern is a three screen, 66 minute work which explores the mental, technological and pastoral landscapes of the UK fission research programme, from its dreams to its consequences.
To coincide with the preview screening of Dunlop's new film, Yellowcake, at the VRC Dundee on April 8, a screening and seminar event, Nuclear art and archives will be held at DCA in association with Arts Catalyst and Ele Carpenter.

Biography
Gair Dunlop makes artworks that explore lived Modernism: the New Town, the military airfield, the film archive and the scientific research establishment.The works investigate and play with different eras of discovery and propaganda.
Previous works have been featured at a wide variety of contexts, such as ISEA 2012, Kassel Documentary Film Festival, Rødasten Gothenburg, and Boerhaave Medical Museum Leiden. Funders have included Creative Scotland, The Wellcome Trust, English Heritage and the AHRC.
The process of artwork research and production has in turn produced a range of papers and journal articles.Recent researches on the remains of the atomic and military modern have potential to influence policy-makers and the informed public in terms of the ways that our ideas of technology and progress are overshadowed by previous generations of practice, and their remains.
