DJCAD Student Programme: CAPTURE

Capture Photography Exhibition

Preview: Wednesday 14th March - 5pm
Exhibition: 15 – 28 March
Opening Times: Monday – Saturday, 10am - 5pm

Capture, a photography exhibition hosted by Dundee University Christian Union (DUCU) is an opportunity to view a selection of work submitted to the Capture Photography Competition which ran during February and until the 4th of March.

The theme of the competition was ‘Dundee: Changing City’ and entries were received that capture the city of Dundee and highlight its unique beauty and the excitement of its current development. Dundee is place that is constantly changing and it is interesting to see how the 25 shortlisted photographs show one city in many lights and from varying perspectives. Dundee’s history, spirit of development and deeper social issues are portrayed in these compelling images.

Our lead judge is Malcolm Finnie, a photographer and member of staff at DJCAD, with 25 years in education under his belt. Before teaching, Malcolm trained and worked as a professional photographer, setting up his own business in Glasgow, in 1986.

On opening night there will be free refreshments supplied by DUCU, the winners announced/prizes awarded by Malcolm and a short Gospel talk given by Clive Parnell, titled ‘A Picture of Meaning’ which looks at 3 artists – Damien Hirst, Anthony Gormley and Rembrandt.

The Matthew Entrance Galleries are located at the main entrance of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design over Level 1 & 2.
